mary T's Dreamweaver MX

Week One

Well I have been at this for several hours now, and decided to take advantage of the quiet time to dive into the first week's lesson. And all I can say is "WOW!" I am very impressed with how easy it is to work in Dreamweaver MX, and this is from a mere amateur. I have taken the LVS classes in HTML, CSS, and Homesite, and was reluctant to use any type of webpage design program that did not make me write the code, painstaking as it was to do. When I first decided to learn HTML, I was, and still am, fascinated by the way it works. I loved writing the code myself, seeing what it produced on my screen, and knowing how to make the changes I wanted.

But something attracted me to Dreamweaver, and after only a little experimentation, I find nothing not to love. I have a strong suspicion that I will soon be using Dreamweaver MX exclusively, especially since I can keep an eye on the code at the same time I work in the design window. I just hope I don't forget to look up there at the code window after a while, LOL. And, if I do forget, oh well! (just kidding, Debbie!) I think I've already forgotten how to code a list. ;-)

One thing that I have already discovered that I love about Dreamweaver MX is how simple it is to upload my work to my remote site. I never did understand how to do that in Homesite, so I was very happy to get this function working in almost no time at all. Now, I am ready to find out what else is better in Dreamweaver MX. Here are a few things I have discovered that I love in only my first week's work:

  1. Seeing both the design and the code view at the same time
  2. Using the Property Inspector to modify elements and tags
  3. Uploading pages to my remote site is simple and fast ( I know that wasn't in this week's lesson, but this one really got me hooked at the start.)
  4. Discovering how easy it is to create a list in Dreamweaver. As you can see, I was so delighted that I couldn't have just one.
